Who is a Good Candidate for Restylane®?
Restylane is approved to use in those 21 years and older to smooth facial lines and wrinkles. Signs of facial aging can become visible as early as the thirties. If you experience signs of aging in the lower face such as parentheses lines around the mouth or vertical lip lines, you could benefit from Restylane fillers. Fillers can smooth out the lines that Botox and other injectables can’t treat. You can also benefit if you experience volume loss in the cheeks or thinning lips due to age.
The Procedure
Treatments with Restylane take anywhere from 15 – 45 minutes depending on the areas you are having treated. Injections are put into the area using a tiny needle. A topical anesthetic is all that is usually required, although a complete numbing of the area can also be done. Treatments are not permanent and will slowly dissipate over 6 – 9 months. At that point, your treatment can be repeated.
Restylane® Recovery
Common side effects of Restylane include swelling, redness, and itching at the injection site. However, these are usually mild and will quickly resolve. You can resume most daily activities right away but might want to avoid over-strenuous activity that can make swelling worsen in the first few days.
