SkinPen in Minneapolis-St. Paul

Looking for a natural and holistic way to improve the appearance of your skin? Look no further than SkinPen. These treatments utilize a device that harnesses the body’s healing process to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, leading to the appearance of smoother, tighter, and more youthful looking skin.

What is the SkinPen?

The SkinPen is a unique type of procedure that utilizes your body’s own natural healing processes to promote smoother and younger-looking skin.  The SkinPen works by creating hundreds of microscopic channels into the top layer of the skin, which prompts the damaged cells to go into repair mode.  This allows the body to produce more collagen and elastin, which are crucial building blocks to build smoother and younger-looking skin.

The SkinPen is best suited for all skin types as there are minimal side effects associated with this treatment.  What’s more, the SkinPen procedure can be performed on all parts of the body, including the chest, stomach, and hands. In addition to its anti-wrinkle benefits, the SkinPen can be used to minimize the appearance of acne scars and sagging neck skin.

“I had searched and consulted with a few other plastic surgeons before I met with Dr. Rocheford. I had researched her and kept her name in my contacts until I was ready for this next step in my life. After losing 100 pounds this was the final step in my weight loss journey. Dr. Rocheford and staff made me feel very comfortable and not rushed with my decision. I was really surprised that she met with me in-person for my consultation, seeing the others were on zoom. She’s skilled and very precise with her work. There was no hesitation to have her perform my tummy tuck once I met her. I was very nervous the day of the procedure but Dr. Rochford and her staff made me feel very comfortable and at ease. The care I received after was outstanding, even making a call to her in the evening with a concern and she took the call late evening.”

“There are not that many women surgeons in the Twin Cities. I felt Dr. Rocheford listened to what I wanted to achieve, didn’t push other procedures and was realistic about expected outcomes. I am so happy with the results, well placed stitch line and natural looking outcome. The aftercare nurse Jenny was spectacular. I felt well cared for and she was available whenever I had a question. If I decide to do another procedure I will definitely go back to Dr. Rocheford.”

Meet Dr. Rocheford

  • Procedure: The treatment is one of the most effective and minimally invasive ways to treat wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scars, and other complexion woes. Our technician uses the pen to make tiny micro-channels into the skin using topical Novocaine, which produces minimal discomfort.
  • Downtime: Minimal. It is recommended you take 1 to 2 days away from important meetings or special events as the skin could have a “windburn” like appearance. Otherwise, there’s little to no downtime associated with this procedure. It is recommended that you take the rest of the day off from work and exercise.
  • Bruising: A small risk of bruising can occur around the eyes or lips, depending upon the area of treatment. If bruising were to occur the spot size is very small and can be covered with make-up the following day.
  • Swelling: Minimal swelling may occur with some clients.
  • Redness: There may be redness after treatment; this usually disappears within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Sun Exposure: Wear SPF 30 or higher after treatment.
  • Final Result: 3 to 6 sessions are recommended with the frequency of 1 month apart for optimum results. However, most clients can start seeing excellent results after just a few treatments.

SkinPen FAQs

How does SkinPen microneedling work to improve skin texture?

SkinPen microneedling involves the use of a device with fine needles that create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural collagen and elastin production, promoting skin renewal and improving texture. The tiny channels created by the microneedles also enhance the absorption of skincare products, making topical treatments even more effective.

What skin concerns can be addressed with SkinPen treatments?

SkinPen can address various skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. The controlled micro-injuries stimulate collagen production, leading to firmer, smoother skin. We can even create customized treatment plans to address your unique needs.

Is there any downtime associated with SkinPen microneedling?

There is very little downtime associated with SkinPen treatments. Some patients may experience redness and mild swelling immediately after the treatment. These effects typically subside within a day or two.

The number of treatment sessions needed varies depending on individual skin concerns and goals. Many patients benefit from a series of three to six treatments spaced several weeks apart to achieve optimal results. We will work closely with you to develop the most effective treatment plan.
