Breast Augmentation Procedure

This is a 23-year-old female from South St. Paul, Minnesota who was seen in consultation for breast augmentation. She always felt that her breasts were just small and wanted to have an increase in her breast size. She works as a nurse and has two small children. She was very concerned about her recovery from breast enhancement. Additionally, she was very active with exercise doing weight training and the elliptical. We discussed her activities and her anatomy. She indicated that she would like to have a higher profile implant. Because of her thin frame, the implants were placed underneath the muscle. She has selected 290 cc Smooth Round High Profile saline implants which will be placed in a submuscular position and then filled on both sides to 300 cc. Postoperatively, the patient was wearing a 32D bra. She is still able to take care of her small children and perform her duties as a nurse and is comfortable doing her usual workout routine.

She did not have any children at the time of her surgery and was an avid runner, running at least three to four times per week. She was wearing a 34B bra prior to surgery. At the time of surgery, she elected to have 457 cc Smooth Round Moderate Plus silicone implants placed in the submuscular position. Following surgery, she was very happy with her result. Her inframammary incision is not visible to her or to others. She has found two different sizes of bras that fit her. She can either wear a 36DD or a 38D bra. This is a 41-year-old female from Bloomington, Minnesota who is interested in breast augmentation and tummy tuck. She is a very small person who has two children. She noted that after her second child, she had very significant stretch marks, which have resulted in loose crepey skin on her abdomen. She also had a small umbilical hernia, which bothered her. Prior to her surgery, she is wearing a 34A bra. At the time of the surgery, the patient underwent breast augmentation with 225 cc saline implants, Smooth Round Moderate Plus saline implants which were filled to 250 cc on both sides. She also underwent full abdominoplasty. The abdominoplasty specimen when it was removed weighed 170 grams.

Following the procedure, the patient was very pleased with the flat appearance of her abdomen. Although all of her stretch marks were not removed, they were no longer wrinkly or crepey and she was able to wear low jeans without the excess skin hanging over the waist of her pants. Her scar could easily be concealed in her underwear and in her bikini. Following her surgery, she went from a 34A to a 34C bra.
