An Overview of the Skinpen
The SkinPen is a special type of microneedling that creates hundreds of microscopic channels in the uppermost layer of the skin, triggering the repair of damaged cells. The SkinPen stimulates the natural healing processes of the body to produce younger, healthier and smoother looking skin by increasing the production of elastin and collagen.
No major side effects have been reported by patients after being treated with SkinPen. It suits all types of skins and the procedure can be implemented on all body parts, including the stomach, hands and chest. The SkinPen can also diminish the appearance of acne scars in addition to addressing other problems. If you wish to treat fine lines, acne scars, wrinkles and crepey neck skin, then you may be a good candidate for SkinPen treatments.
Cost of SkinPen
The cost of the SkinPen varies depending on the number of body areas you would like to treat and your specific situation. Treatment costs can be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Rocheford’s Aestheticians.
Procedure of Skinpen Treatment
SkinPen is a non-surgical and minimally invasive procedure to treat hyperpigmentation, scars, acne, wrinkles and other complexion problems. Prior to treatment, numbing cream will be applied to minimize discomfort. Tiny micro-channels are created in the skin by the Aesthetician using the SkinPen.
Downtime of Skinpen Treatment
One of the major benefits of SkinPen treatment includes minimal downtime. The doctor suggests you avoid strenuous activity for about 1-2 days after the treatment as mild discomfort might be felt. Sometimes, mild swelling is reported by the patients. Similarly, depending upon the area of treatment, bruising might occur around the lips or eyes in rare cases that can be concealed with the help of makeup. If redness occurs on the skin, it usually resolves in about 1-2 days. Wearing sunblock SPF 30 or higher is advised during sun exposure after the treatment.
Results of Skinpen Treatment
Optimum results are typically seen following 3-6 sessions about spaced 1 month apart. Patients with modest skin concerns may see their desired results in about 1-2 sessions.
