What is RHA Filler?

RHA fillers are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers designed to plump the skin, adding volume to augment facial features and smooth facial wrinkles and folds. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body. It binds to water molecules in the skin, creating a plumping and smoothing effect. RHA fillers are designed to move naturally with your facial movements so that you can expect a naturally refreshed appearance after treatment.

RHA fillers are available in four different formulas. RHA Redensity is injected in the superficial layers of the skin to soften vertical lip lines (sometimes called smoker’s lines or lipstick lines) and perioral lines around the mouth. RHA 2 is injected into the middle or deep dermal layers of the skin to fill in moderate to severe nasolabial folds (smile lines) and dynamic wrinkles in the cheeks. It is also a great choice for undereye filler and can improve the appearance of dark circles or undereye hollows.

RHA 3 can also fill in nasolabial folds and marionette lines on the cheeks with an added smoothing effect. RHA 4 is injected into the deepest layer of the dermis and the subcutaneous fat to fill in deep facial folds on the cheeks and around the mouth.

Who is a Good Candidate for RHA Filler?

Most patients who wish to smooth wrinkles caused by dynamic facial movements are candidates for RHA fillers. Our provider will discuss your treatment goals and examine your skin at your consultation to determine whether the RHA fillers are right for you.

The Procedure

RHA filler treatments only take about 30 minutes or less, depending on the size of the treatment area and how much product is needed. Patients generally do not find this to be a painful treatment and they can return to work or their daily activities immediately after injections.

RHA Filler Recovery

There is minimal downtime and recovery after filler injections. Patients can expect mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness but these effects will improve within a few days. You can take over-the-counter pain medication and use a cold compress as needed to alleviate any discomfort. Avoid strenuous activity and sun exposure to minimize swelling and aid in your recovery. Results will develop gradually for about two weeks as the product settles into the skin.

How Long Does RHA Filler Last?

RHA fillers typically last 12-15 months. Deeper filler injections typically last longer but the timeline varies for each patient.
