Cellulite affects a majority of women and is nothing to be ashamed of, but it is just as common for women to wish for smoother skin. QWO is a groundbreaking non-surgical treatment option that smooths cellulite with virtually no downtime.

What is QWO?

QWO is an injectable product which diminishes the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks. It is the first injectable available to treat moderate to severe cellulite. QWO uses collagenase to break down the connective tissues that pull the skin down and create the dimpled appearance of cellulite for an overall smoother look.

Who is a Good Candidate for QWO?

Up to 90% of women have cellulite, and the condition is not caused by being overweight or out of shape. Because cellulite is so common, a majority of women are good candidates for QWO. It can be beneficial for patients of any age, skin tone, or skin type. Before receiving injections, you should be generally healthy overall and share any health conditions or allergies to ensure that the procedure will be safe for you. QWO is only approved for use in the buttocks, so those who are concerned about texture in other areas should consider other treatment options. Finally, your provider will examine the treatment area to ensure that true cellulite, rather than skin laxity or another issue, is the cause of the dimpling or texture you see. This is important to make sure that QWO is the appropriate treatment option for you.

The QWO Procedure

QWO injections are performed in a series of three sessions, which are scheduled about 21 days apart. During each session, injections can typically be completed in 10 minutes or less. There is no anesthesia required, though the provider may apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable throughout the injections. Once injected, the collagenase within QWO will work to release the connective tissues that cause the dimpled appearance.

Recovery and Results from QWO

QWO does not require downtime, though you will see some side effects as the treatment works to reduce cellulite. The most noticeable side effect for most patients is bruising, which is believed to be a result of the collagen fibers breaking down. It is also common to see some slight redness or swelling at the injection site or feel some soreness or tenderness in the treatment area. These side effects should not last long. However, it is best to schedule your injections when the area will not be exposed until bruising subsides.

Results from QWO injections are usually noticeable about 10 weeks after your final treatment session. You may notice the skin looking smoother before this point as the collagen bands loosen with each treatment session. Your provider will explain what results you can reasonably expect during a consultation.
