Injectables: Achieving Your Goals Without Surgery

Posted on February 12, 2019 by: Dr. Rocheford

In today’s world, it can feel like a must to feel confident, be competitive, and look good. However, if you feel like a procedure can help you achieve your goals, it can seem daunting to undergo surgery. This is because surgery entails huge expenses, a recovery period, and the use of anesthesia.

This is why many people are turning to injectables such as Kybella, Botox, or Sculptra, since they address your aging problems without the risks associated with a surgery. There are different issues that can be addressed with the use of injectables like volume loss, double chin, nasolabial folds, crow’s feet, and wrinkles. Because of this, many people choose to get cosmetic injectables because they are not invasive and can be administered in a quick, in-office treatment. Here’s what you should know about the different types of injectables.

Dermal Fillers

The most common fillers are hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid injectables are made using the synthetic version of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that occurs naturally in the body and is responsible for moisture, movement, and elasticity. When it is in low levels in your body, it leads to thin and dry skin as well as the formation of wrinkles. These injectable options usually last from three months to a year and can be repeated.

Radiesse is another dermal filler that can add volume but is not for use in the lips. Radiesse can be used to treat smile lines, marionette lines, chin wrinkles, pre-jowel folds, and the corners of the mouth. Another dermal filler used to help correct nasolabial folds, marionette lines, chin wrinkles, and other signs of facial aging is Sculptra. Sculptra is used to address the underlying causes of facial aging and can last up to two years.

Neurotoxins

Neurotoxins such as Botox and Dysport work by relaxing muscles in the face by blocking the nerve impulses. Your facial muscles are then no longer capable of contracting or furrowing, leading to reduction in wrinkles and preventing new formation. Botox is a popular injectable used to reduce wrinkles in the forehead, eyebrows, and crow’s feet. It should be used as a treatment after every four months in order to maintain your youthful appearance.

Fat Reduction

One excellent new option in injectable treatments is Kybella, which can effectively reduce submental fat, sometimes called a double chin. This option is made from deoxycholic acid, commonly found in the body to assist with breaking down and absorbing fat. It can be injected into the fatty tissues under the chin where it can dissolve fat cells over time. This treatment requires a few sessions, but can produce long-term results once the fat cells have been fully treated.
